Fiesta with the Golden Girls!

So after being sick with the worst, spinning headache all weekend, we yet again had another party with Senora and all her neighbors whom I like to call the Golden Girls, on Sunday! These women have so much spunk and love of life that it made me really sad to be having to say goodbye in the next few weeks. I already have little gifts in the works for them and I think there will be one more get-together before I leave so it will be perfect!

So after mass (which was awesome because it was the first Sunday in Advent!), Senora and I went and bought deserts! This time the part was on the eighth floor at MariCruz's house! She is probably my favorite and who I think is my senora's best friend. We started out having martinis and appetizers and they were yummy! They all just rolled laughing when I told them that I tell everyone that I think I drink more with them than with my friends, but it is probably true! After appetizers, we went to the kitchen for the huge meal. We had a vegetable/garbanzo soup in a pumpkin sauce, a selection of five different meats and salad and bread...Oh and of course WINE! After the meal MariCruz had baked apples in a wine and honey sauce, and man were those good. When we were finished eating, it was definitely too early for coffee, so we all sat on the couches and watched an old Alfred Hitchcock black and white film. It was so fun because everytime I looked around me, another one of the Golden Girls would be snoring away. I even caught my self dozing off! Let me remind you we all arrived at about 1:30PM and it was now nearing 7! Time for coffee and desserts! Holy cow, so much food. This lasted about another 45 minutes before we all left. Needless to say, senora and I did not eat dinner last night!

I took lots of pictures tonight because that is going to be part of my gifts to all of them! They are such wonderful women, and I always catch myself wondering if the other students in past years have got to experience what I have with these wonderful women. I can't bare saying goodbye to any of them. I just hope my thanks and appreciation will come across as well as I want it too while saying it all in spanish!

Senora and I! She will always hold a special place in my heart, ever since the day she was pacing outside waiting for me to arrive!

The Christmas tablecloth! It just put me in the holiday spirit!

Our pretty table setting. These women don't lack anything!

And last but not least, Matilde and I. After the first time I met her, she wrote me a special poem with all the information that she had gathered from me that first night!

Last Thursday, as we all know was Thanksgiving, or here Dia de la accion de gracias! It was my first holiday being away from home, but all-in-all it turned out good. Through the school, a local Irish pub hosted a Thanksgiving feast. The news reporters were there and I even saw myself on TV...national Spanish television! Awesome right?!?! There was so much food and I definitely ate as if I were home. It was all the traditional thanksgiving food, but just didn't seem the same without the days worth of preparing food! That night, I was fortunate to skype with my dad's entire side of the family! It was so great to be involved in the annual "What we are thankful for." It definitely brought tears to my eyes and made me even more excited to spend the Christmas season at home! I even got to be a part of the cousin picture as they put the computer in the picture with my skyped face! Hope they turned out!

This is a picture at the luncheon with some of us dance girls...and our teacher in the black. She is also a waitress at this restaurant. She has a little attitude!

A nice pose!

The pretty decoration they had sitting out!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and stories. The countdown is on for when my mom and Auntie Michelle arrive on Friday! There won't be too many more postings while I am in Spain, so enjoy them while you can!
