My mom had the opportunity to share her testimony, and although she was somewhat apprehensive, she was a pro and I was so proud of her. She kept the attention of near 200 people for about 20 minutes as she informed everyone of her story and struggles with cancer. It was more hard for me to hear her retell the story becuase as she was talking, I could vividly remember the images as if it were yesterday. Overall it was a great experience and a good way for my mom to share her story.
Here is a picture of the two of us after the survivor lap!
Here is my team "Simply Sisters and Gents" composed of some of the sisters from the Fraternity and some of their friends!
Mom, Grandma, and I
Throughout the night there were different themes and one of them was an 80's theme, sio Niki and I had alot of fun with this one!
JT and Danny were in the competition "Mr. Relay For Life" and we had the chance to dress them up. The six participants walked around the track trying to collect the most money in their purses and whoever had the most at the end of the hour won!
I also had the opportunity to make luminarias to honor or remember people I know who have struggled with cancer! Here are some of the bags that lined the track while illuminated:
Overall this was one of the most valuable experiences ever. Thanks again to all the people who donated to my efforts! Both monetary and time donations are very important in finding a cure for cancer! Lets hope one day we will =)
I also had a concert on Saturday night. It was an exchange concert with Winona State. I was so exhausted after relay that the concert felt long and boring...not to mention every single song sung was either Latin, Italian, or German...which makes it easier to doze off! Then the rest of the weekend was very chill and relaxing doing homework and getting ready for the next two weeks.
I am going to be very busy up until Easter Break. I have so much to study for for the Fraternity National Exam...it will be the hardest test I have ever taken becuase it is free-response, but the answers need to be exact...sown to the correct punctuation! Keep me in your prayers as I prepare for that huge exam as well as other projects and tests I have before break!
Hope you all enjoy reading my post and it may be awhile until I post again because of how crazy things will get!
