PHOTOBLOG...the past three months!

Loyal Readers! I am happy to finally be writing once again...and yes I realize it has been three months since my last posting and so much has happened! In the past three months, I turned 20, went to Florida, started new classes, started a new teaching class and tutoring students, went to Texas, performed in Fireside, and even did the Cardinal Plunge! This semester is already half over and I have just a little less than 2 months left of sophomore year. Classes are challenging as always, but it is always nice to have a change of pace! I have also been very successful in getting my application all ready for Spain. I have two more things to fill out, and then I just have to wait for my acceptance to the program! Enough of an intro, lets start on the 3 month journey!

Be sure you have a little time to set aside to view the pictures and stories behind the pictures. I will take you on a journey from the most recent happenings to 3 months ago.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to participate in the Cardinal Plunge...our version of the Polar Plunge! It was the first annual, and the proceeds went to my friend Mocha, who was just diagnosed with a brain tumor 2 months ago. I had a been a rough time accepting that a friend had cancer, but he is so positive and I know he will win his race! He is scheduled to have surgery and go through radiation at the end of the school year. So the following pictures show my support for him and his speedy recovery!

Here is us getting out of the water, man was it cold, but we couldn't have asked for a nicer day to do it. I think every Minnesotan should experience this, and I would do it again!

Here is us getting ready for the plunge!

We got to announce our names and why we were plunging!

A couple weeks ago was my February Break, and I had planned on visiting my grandparents in Texas while my parents were on vacation in Hawaii, but as most of you know Grandma hasn't been feeling well, so we decided it would be best if I didn't go there. Instead, I went to Houston to visit an old friend who moved to Texas 6 years ago! It was so fun to get the chance to spend a week with her and see what life was like in Texas. I hadn't ween her in three years, but we grew up together, so I knew we would be just fine together! We had wonderful weather (60's which is great for me...but apparently cold for them) and we had the opportunity to do lots of things! I got to tour her campus, go to her work, and even tour the Johnson Space Center! Here are some pictures of my trip!

Michelle and I on my last night in Texas!

Michelle, Erica and I...the three of us hung out like all week!

Doing a photo shoot at the Baseball Field right before I left. Linda was up taking pictures of the baseball team and wanted to take a bunch of pictures of us up! I would have more, but they are on Facebook, which I gave up for Lent! Man that is a challenge!

We went to Galveston beach for the day and took lots of pictures! It was fun to be on teh ocean again and pick seashells.

Here is a real-size model of the space shuttle that astronauts practice in before take off. This picture is the body of the shuttle where the astronauts live and do everything.

And the front of the shuttle.

Right before break, the sisters of my Fraternity hosted the musical variety show Fireside. Fireside is a two hour performance of coffeehouse style music. I helped with the set-up, passing out pie, and clean up! I also performed a duet and accompanied a friend on piano!

My friend Jenna and I performing "Leave the Pieces" by the Wreckers. Our stage name was the "Heartbreakers"

We also had our friends Sam and Vanessa play guitar and violin along with us!

This is Katie sing "Breathe 2AM" as I accompany her.

Here are all the sisters of my fraternity as we close the show with our SAI song. Love and Roses!

This was once again so fun to be up on stage, and even more awesome because Mom, Dad, and Auntie Michelle came down for the day. It is always refreshing to see those people that you rarely get to see when away at college!

In mid-January, me and three other girls went to Rochester to stay with one of my friends that lives up there. Again, it was just nice to get away and get home-cooked meals for a change. Her parents were so welcoming and offered great hospitality. We got to go out to eat, to the mall, and even play monopoly "villain style"

Roomie and I enjoying some slush!

Jenna, Emma and myself.

Amanda and I seem to be dressing very alike these days...hmmm...who likes who's style?!?!?

We went to Chipotle and decided to go back in the day when we took random posed pictures!

Emma and I looking all James Bond!

Oh just another pic at the restaurant!

The sisters of SAI are proud to have a pledge class of 3 this semester! Here is the current clan and we will be initiating the newbies on March 25th! They had there huge test last night and we wish them luck!

We love to be a crazy bunch...

but we know when to get down to business!

Man I didn't realize all that had happened during this time! The last week of my Christmas break, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the national Catholic conference called FOCUS in Orlando, Florida. Besides the nice weather, this was an experience I will never forget. They had national speakers who talked on so many topics...too many to name, and I took a lot from that experience. Despite the 24 hour bus ride down, I made relationships that will last a lifetime. We had about 30 students go from St. Marys!

Here is the girls of the bunch at our nice dinner!

Enjoying lunch out on by the pool!

The roommates that I stayed with that week! Love you girls!

Here is just a piture of some girls from school listening to some music at the local coffee shop!

Well I think that is good for now! Hope you enjoyed and I promise it won't be that long! Be sure to look for upcoming postings about my Relay For Life cancer walk I am doing! Check out my page and donate at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=9619739&pg=personal&fr_id=22870.
